ARTIST BIO

Over the past two decades, Nils Wülker has become one of the most successful jazz trumpeters and composers in Europe. Wülker was honored with the ECHO Jazz Award in 2013 and is a four-time recipient of the German Jazz Award in Gold.

With his own band, Nils Wülker is constantly touring in Germany and abroad and has appeared as a guest soloist with Gregory Porter, E.S.T. Symphony, Max Mutzke and Klaus Doldinger. He was also responsible for the musical design of the 2016 Grimme Prize (one of Germany's most prestigious television awards) and has recorded solo features for German rap star Marteria, among others.

In recent years, Wülker has collaborated with Torun Eriksen, Silje Nergaard and Dominic Miller, further cementing his reputation as a "German jazz prodigy" (DER SPIEGEL). Constantly evolving, Wülker explores influences ranging from hip-hop to electronic music. Proving that jazz can indeed have great mainstream appeal, his latest album "Closer", recorded with his long-time guitarist and friend Arne Jansen, entered the official German charts at number 15 - a rare feat for an instrumental jazz album.

His multifaceted career, which includes guest appearances as a soloist as well as stints as a radio host and artistic director of jazz concert programs, has made him a prominent figure in European jazz.
